Current Weekly Class Times

The following schedule details our current classes at the main Meriden location and our external branch programs:

Mondays (DAV Hall, 80 Hall Ave, Meriden )

  • 37 Tai Chi & Sun Style (6:30 PM – 7:30 PM)
  • Push Hands (7:30 PM – 8:30 PM)

Tuesdays

  • Walf Rec Dept Tai Chi Class (7:00 PM – 8:00 PM). For specific schedule details, email cctcc89@gmail.com.

Wednesdays

  • Walf Rec Dept (11:15 AM – 12:15 PM)

Thursdays (DAV Hall, 80 Hall Ave, Meriden )

  • Tai Chi Chi Part II Class (6:30 PM – 7:30 PM)
  • Advanced Form Class (7:30 PM – 8:30 PM)
  • Wesleyan Staff/Employees (11:00 AM – 11:45 AM)

Program Descriptions

These definitions explain the content and focus of our specialized classes:

  • Tai Chi Form Parts I, II, & III

    These classes break down the form into three sections. Part I covers the beginning third (Raise Hands to Diagonal Single Whip), Part II covers the middle third (Diagonal Single Whip to Bend and Punch), and Part III covers the final third (Bend and Punch to Conclusion).

  • Form Review

    A dedicated class for reviewing the entire Tai Chi Form sequence.

  • Tai Chi Theory

    For students who have completed the Tai Chi Form, this class offers continued practice focused on the physical application of Tai Chi concepts.

  • Tai Chi Meditation

    Designed for graduates of the Tai Chi Form, this class includes both meditation and Chi Kung exercises.

  • Weapons Class

    Instruction in the Sabre and Long Sword Forms, available only after completing the Tai Chi Form.

  • Pushing Hands

    This class is open to all students, from beginners through advanced, focusing on sensitivity and self-defense skills.

  • Past Workshops and Activities

    This includes various historical sessions focused on Tai Chi and Chi Kung.

All Tai Chi classes are taught by Dave Ritchie and Assisted by Advanced Students.

  • Beginner Form Classes

    Start dates for Tai Chi Form Classes in Meriden vary throughout the year. New class information can be found on the home page, or you can contact the school directly for dates.

  • Weapons and Pushing Hands

    The requirement for enrolling in weapons classes is completion of a Tai Chi Empty Hand Form. Currently, the Long Sword and Sabre (Broadsword) Forms are offered. Sensing Hands and Pushing Hands classes are ongoing; please call for information.

  • Branch Program
